Greenleaf and Timberbrook collaborating on 60th Anniversary Addition Arthur
The rumors are true; there’s a 60th Anniversary Edition Arthur Dollhouse Kit in development! We’ve been working closely with our good friends Ralph and Alice over at Timberbrook Dollhouses and have come up with something special to celebrate Greenleaf’s 60th anniversary! The combination of their high end components and our precision die-cutting resulted in a charming redesign of the worlds most popular dollhouse, the Arthur. New features will include Timberbrook windows and doors and an all wood birch shell, so everything in this dollhouse kit is made in the USA!
Teresa Martens leaving the Greenleaf Gazette
I am sad to announce that after the December issue, Teresa Martens will be leaving the Greenleaf Gazette. Teresa originally came up with the idea of the Greenleaf Member of the Month section of the newsletter and developed it into a fan favorite. It quickly became a cornerstone of the monthly online publication as Teresa interviewed respected miniaturists from around the world. We here at Greenleaf send out a big thanks to Teresa for all her hard work over the last year!
I would highly recommend a visit to Teresa’s amazing Dollhouse Photo Show and of course, a visit to her web site.
Toys"R"Us offering Greenleaf Dollhouse Kits
Greenleaf is proud to announce that the Arthur Dollhouse Kit and the Storybook Cottage Dollhouse Kit are now available at select Toys”R”Us retail locations. Both of these houses are sporting new packaging that features a yellow/green color scheme along with a little girl sitting beside the dollhouse. To see if your local store is carrying these two houses, I recommend that you refer to the Toys”R”Us store locator and give them a call.
Another Magazine Cover for Tracy Topps
Tracys Topps, miniature artist and owner of Minis on the Edge Custom Dollhouses, has another magazine cover to add to her collection! Miniaturas Magazine will have a cover article and multi-page spread featuring her amazing work with paper clay in their November 2007 issue. Though the article is in Spanish, it translates into one great story with some fantastic pictures!
The larger picture on the first page is a custom built Pierce Doll House Kit and the smaller is a custom built Buttercup Doll House Kit. You will also notice pictures of the Orchid Dollhouse and the Coventry Cottage Doll house are included in the article. All of these projects bring Greenleaf Dollhouses to the next level and we are proud that Tracy has choosen our kits to work with!
Besides selling miniatures, Tracy provides a custom kit building service where she will customizes your dollhouse kit to order. If you are looking for a unique, one of a kind heirloom, I would suggest contacting Tracy with your specifications for a quote.Tracy is also the Host and Community Administrator of the Greenleaf Dollhouse Forum, so she has some great pictures of her work posted in her Custom Dollhouse Gallery!
What is Dollhouse Kit Bashing?
In a recent post, I used the term “bashed” which is short for kit bashing. Kit bashing is a practice in which a new design is created from a dollhouse kit by either removing, adding or combine features. There is a great article on dollhouse kit bashing written by Deb Roberts in the April 2007 edition of the Greenleaf Gazette. Deb is the editor in chief of the Gazette and owner of Deb’s Minis.

There are three different themes to choose from to get you in the holiday spirit, and of course, our regular themes are available as well. The Santa Clause Movie Dollhouse
After the predominate appearance of Greenleaf Dollhouses in the first two Santa Clause movies, we were very excited when Walt Disney Pictures contacted us again to participate in the latest installment, Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, which was released to DVD this week. In this scene, a bashed version of the Beacon Hill Doll House Kit sits partially assembled. Admittedly, we had a tiny presence compared to the prior two movies, but Greenleaf is proud to have been considered by the prop master for all three movies. Visit the Greenleaf Dollhouse forum for more pictures of our dollhouses in the Santa Clause movie.
Dollhouse on The Young and the Restless
Did you catch Mondays episode of the Young and the Restless? If so, maybe you caught Phyllis and Jana working on a Greenleaf Shadybrook Doll House. Even in prison, Phyllis knows the value of a good dollhouse kit! This is a project that she is working on for her daughter Summer, so we might see that cute little house in upcoming episodes! If you want more info on the Shadybrook Dollhouse Kit, visit the the Greenleaf Dollhouses Company Store.
Are Dollhouse Kits on your Holiday list?
As the holidays approach, many people have taken notice of our November ads in Miniature Collector, Dollhouse Miniatures and American Miniaturist magazines. Every month we take out a full page ad featured on the inside cover of these three dollhouse publications. For those of you who may have missed the it, I’ve posted a copy of our November ad below.
Starting this spring, we placed a lot more emphasis on our advertising designs. As usual, we do everything ourselves around Greenleaf Dollhouses, so we put on our thinking caps to come up with our holiday campaign. November’s ad was a “subtle” reminder that everyone should have a dollhouse kit somewhere on their shopping list.
Since we are our own home grown advertising firm, we are always looking for feed back on our ads and welcome constructive criticism. Please feel free to comment on this on our latest dollhouse ad!
