The Aster Cottage finds its way on to another magazine cover

The Aster Cottage Dollhouse The January edition of Miniature Collector Magazine featured a wonderful cover story that involved the Aster Cottage doll house kit.  Pat Strahan of Tulsa, Oklahoma did an amazing job of book ending two Aster Cottages side by side into what she calls the “Log Cottage”.  It’s really a fantastic article that is worth a read, with plenty of pictures of an amazing kit bash.  A big thanks to our friends at Scott Publishing for providing us with this photo of the cover and, of course, a big shout out to Pat for showing us the true potential of this darling little kit.

Miniatures.com chooses Greenleaf for 15th Annual Creatin’ Contest

For the third year running, Hobby Builders Supply has chosen Greenleaf Dollhouses for their next Annual Creatin’ Contest!  The Creatin’ Contest is one of the largest annual events in the miniature industry with hundreds of contestants competing for the Grand Prize of $1000 Gift Certificate at Miniatures.com.  There are also other prize category totaling over $1000, but everyone who enters is a winner because they will receive the following years contest kit FREE!  This means if you enter this years contest by 12/15/2007, you will get the next house sent to you free of charge next month!  So you ask, exactly what Greenleaf kit will be used in next years contest?  Sorry, but that’s top secret, but you’re going to love it!

Over the past eight years, Greenleaf is proud to have supplied six different houses for this fantastic contest.  The nature of our kits lends itself well to alterations (kit bashing), so your imagination is the only limit!  I wish everyone luck… I can’t wait to see what you come up with!  To see entries from past contests, visit the hall of past contest winners!

What is Dollhouse Kit Bashing?

In a recent post, I used the term “bashed” which is short for kit bashing.  Kit bashing is a practice in which a new design is created from a dollhouse kit by either removing, adding or combine features.  There is a great article on dollhouse kit bashing written by Deb Roberts in the April 2007 edition of the Greenleaf Gazette.  Deb is the editor in chief of the Gazette and owner of Deb’s Minis.
